Ye’, it’s tragic.
But where it was something families huddled around the TV on an evening to watch the Eurovision Song Contest. Here in the U.K. it’s faded to virtually nothing.
Some countries don’t want to win it because of the cost of hosting it.
Plus the votes. Each country gives good votes for neighbouring countries such as Turkey will always give good marks to Greece and Cyprus and they will do the same in return. There are also different voting systems, some have panels, some have phone in or text votes from the viewers, etc...
Now it’s just a bit of a laugh but I do remember some of them from years ago such as Katrina and the Waves with Love Shine A Light, Michael Ball with One Step Out Of Time, Gina G with Just A Little Bit.
Terry Wogan, may he rest in piece, was why many continued to watch with his little comedy moments.
Though he himself was quite critical of it later on and stood down.
Also the controversy with one or two nations and Israel’s singer Dana International being transgender.

Left, back in 1996 and right, in 2015. Still looking good.
She did the U.K. proud. She came eighth but the record went on very well for her.
She tried again in 2005 for the Eurovision and was fifth out of five entrants to represent the U.K.
She’s still making music and has her own label.
